This site is about accessibility, so the site itself has to hold up. If something here gets in your way, that is a bug, and I want to fix it.

The goal

Life's Uncertain aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Where it is practical, it goes further: text colors meet the stricter AAA contrast level in both light and dark mode.

How it is tested

I use my Mac entirely by Voice Control, Head Pointer, and the Accessibility Keyboard. I build and check this site with the same tools I use every day.

Display options

  • Dark mode / Light mode. The button in the menu switches between them. Until you choose, the site follows your device's setting.
  • Hide images. Hides images and shows each image's description in its place.
  • Both choices are remembered on your device as you move between pages.
  • If you turn on Increase Contrast on a Mac or a Contrast Theme on Windows, the site adjusts on its own. No button needed.

What is built in

  • A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page
  • A menu that wraps onto more lines instead of hiding behind a menu button, so every link stays visible and easy to say by voice
  • Large click targets on menus, buttons, and link lists
  • Descriptions (alt text) on meaningful images
  • No autoplaying video, audio, or animation

Known limitations

  • Shop checkout happens on Printful, a separate site I do not control.

Please contact me. It helps to include the page, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you use.
